Quote: I would say that the composition needs working on here. The branch behind the robin visually interferes with and obscures the bird's form. The bump on the branch gives an ambiguous look to the head of the robin. If you had moved, so there were no twigs or branches 'projecting' from the bird, this would improve the photo. Difficult to do in a mass of twigs I know.

You could possibly crop this, portrait format, to lose the unnecessary branches.

Unfortunately you can't do much about flat, dull light. You've handled the exposure very well to get detail in the robin.

you are quite right with your comments. im definately taking your advice into account the next time i shoot. i knew there was something wrong but just couldnt see it. appreciate the feedback
