Adult Starling turning towards the sun to show off his/her colourful plumage.........
Beautiful colours Julia. Nicely done.
I love these glistening beauties and you have captured the iridescence perfectly. Lovely composition too.
They are much maligned but as you have impressively shown here they are a very handsome bird.
this is a beautiful example of a starling.
I seem to have a new set of juveniles visiting - at this late date. I'm obviously feeding them too much.
Quite a striking pose Julia
this bird is so overlooked ... what glorious colours and patterns are in this ones plummage
Beautiful detail & iridecence in the feathers...a lovely image.
Spot on here Julia and what a shot
I love the upright, open-legged stance, Julia, and the way the "perch" branches outwards in echo to the feet. The metallic iridescent sheen is beautifully captured, and also a catchlight in the eye. Such wonderful detail, perfect background, and fine composition.
What I haven't noticed before is the colouring of the starling's beak, so I did a bit of research, and discovered that the colour of the base of its yellow beak can identify the sexes in summer, pink for females, blue for males, and that they are dark grey-brown in winter. So it appears that they have summer and winter phases. Someone who seemed to be an expert also said to take into account the possibility of the influence of food items in beak colour. I've learnt something today .
must be a relative of Gary Glitter before he went gaga.
What a shiny splendid shot
Sleek plumage... what a poser
beautiful capture, stunning colour on these overlooked birds.
Stunning capture, with the light catching those beautiful colours. Well done Julia.
He is even complying with the rule of thirds! Tack sharp and those beautiful colours. Lovely.
A superb shot Julia, pin sharp detail, a great bg to "throw it out" and caught those iridescent colours a treat
I love these teddy boys of the bird world dressed in their finest clobber lol. strutting about squabbling with each other, very Colourful and I use flash when I can as I find it brings out the colours more!, as in this capture here which is very well taken I must say!, one of the best I have seen for some time like it a lot, regards Leon.
Like the pose and good details in this Julia.
Wonderful shot Julia. 1st class detail and excellent b/g.
Amazing shot of this lovely bird! I love 'em!
A wonderful capture Julia, the detail and beautiful irridescent colours in the plumage have been perfectly recorded
