After a lot of help and advice from Ade and Annette following a debate regarding the macro prowess of the Tamrom 90 SP Di 1:2.8 Macro Lens, I had a play with mine in the back garden. I set the lens to the 'Full' position and open the lens right up to its limit, then went hunting. Julie had just finished watering the plants, when I stumbled across this tiny spider in his or her web, which were in turn covered in microscopic water droplets. I immediately went to play, and this was one of my first attempt suing the settings Ade and Annette so kindly provided me with. Thanks guys, I know I have still got a long way to go, I will try Butterflies next, however we don't seem to get many in our garden... "any ideas?"

Thanks to you all for you wonderful comments and kind words following yesterdays upload. I shall be around only a very short time again today, as I have got to go see myCBIT chap in Tonbridge Wells.

Regards Nathan.

An excellent capture, Nathan, and I love your presentation. Regarding butterflies, try planting a couple of buddleia bushes Smile Carol

Very nice , lovely lil' droplets.
Butterflies? The method to attract them is leave the grass alone and make sure there are enough scabious, clover and buck weed. Thyme and marjolain are loved by all the blues.
The also love cosmos and daisies. We just hav wild corner in the garden and I take half of my pics there.

Look at my PF and tell me what you think of my 'method '... Reg setting I use 400iso or more to get some f 11

Your settings have created a very small dof, Nathan, which has captured some of the water drops perfectly. As Annette says, f11 would give you more depth but you would probably need a tripod for a slow shutter speed, or increase the Iso accordingly.

Beautiful image. I think the shallow dof works brilliantly. Re butterflies, I plant just about every butterfly friendly plant but have hardly seen any this year. I'm useless at photographing them anyway! Smile

This is brilliant, so delicate and fleeting. The presentation is an original addition in this case, it seems to convey the ephemeral nature of life. But I'd be interested to see the image full size, without the frame.

never easy macro for me as have a bit of a shakey mitt Nathan but once you get used to macro the results are very rewarding.
Love the water droplets and the presentation
As has been said above a higher F no. will give you much better depth but you would porbably be best using a tripod for me i normally also prefer to manually focus i find i get better results....

Trust all is well and you have a trouble free weekend

Some great advice Nathan, just remember one thing! The closer you go to the subject, the greater the magnification and then very shallow depth of field so having to go sometimes to f32 just to get part of the subject in focus, hope this helps, like the water droplets like diamonds.

Regards

Trev.

Excellent shot, Nathan with those droplets! I love the presentation in V1 but yeah, a deeper depth of field would work better. Also love the title Grin
