This unhappy image shows the abuse of lighter fluid by inhalation. According to the UK charity Resolv,one person every week in the UK dies from this type of addiction. The effects of the substances are short lived,perhaps 5 mins after which the abuser will inhale repeatedly to maintain the 'high'. He is causing a high degree of damage to his liver,kidneys and lungs. I felt sad for this man because he seemed to be holding his 'comfort' as a baby would hold a milk bottle.Many people with mental health problems will use substances to cope with symptoms.
