Beautiful colours and reflection, Netta. I think this would look even better in portrait mode as well.
Dave
Love it Netta, just straighten the horizon then perfect.
Regards
Trev.
The sunset has a lot of impact, Netta, but the centre of the frame is not always a good place for the sun. If you can get it offset when shooting, it has a completely different feel.
Capturing sunsets is often spur of the moment, you see it, you take it, but if you can wait for the right time to press the shutter, you will notice the difference. For instance, you have a burnt out sun and a flare around it. If you can wait for it to go behind a cloud, fully or partially, the camera will have less of a problem dealing with the brightness and glare. If you can wait even longer, and let the ball fall below the horizon, you are often rewarded with a more glorious sky.
For me, the sea is the best element in this image, and the sky a bit wishy-washy, but I suppose you could say that the subtlety of the sky looks good against the strength of the sea and reflection. Your horizon could do with straightening, though it's not far out.
Another thing to consider is the rule of thirds. If you can have one third sky and two thirds sea on the vertical, it looks better, and you've almost got that here. I don't think the black at the bottom does anything for the image. Use the rule of thirds for the sun, too, placing it on a thirds intersection or thereabouts. Hope some of this helps.
