Hi everyone,
Long time no upload --- well it is so long since I have been on EPZ that everything has changed on here, and how, what a difference.
Where have I been I hear you ask, well I got a tiny bit tired of photography and needed a break, plus I sold our old house and have moved to a new area, not too far away but no longer in the middle of nowhere and we love it.![]()
It was quite a traumatic time, as any move is, but we have been settled for nearly 3 months now and I thought it about time I put something onto EPZ again.
I took this photo last year of a friends daughter, she really didn't want her photo taken, probably because she knew I didn't know how to take portraits too well, but in the end I was reasonably pleased with this one shot.
We are quite busy with the garden so I won't be around too much, but I will try and look in on you some time soon.
Hope you are all well.

Well look who it is!! How are you? So good to see you again, welcome back!
This is a beautiful mono portrait, and I bet your friend's daughter is delighted with it!

Welcome back - you see, everybody comes back eventually. And congratulations on the move accomplished, now relax!
A break, a rest is often good. This is a very thoughtful portrait, a gentle angle, sympathetic processing. Someone is bound to ask for sharper focus on the eyes but I like the rather dreamy softness.
Don't wait so long before uploading again...

Great portrait
But I'm afraid moving house is no excuse for not taking photos
your camera should be wrapped round our neck like another limb.
anyway we shall let you off now your back as we want to see more great images like this one ![]()

So glad to welcome you back, Annette. I'm sure the stresses of life will leave you alone for a while; you deserve that reduction in blood pressure.
Sharpness in portraiture is much over-rated, I feel, especially in black and white. Why else would the great and good have invested in soft-focus filters, I ask you? A sine qua non for female portraits. I merely opine that the focus is very slightly too far forward, on the hair rather than the eyes; but it's a damn' close-run thing ![]()
Regards
Bill
Really like this soft gentle image - mono suits it well - glad your move has gone well, and its good to see you back again ![]()
