After arriving on the overnight train at border crossing town Lao Cai which separates Vietnam and China at 5.30am misty and wet it was time for breakfast, noodles and chicken, well it tasted like chicken away, it was time to head off for a couple of days in Sapa but on the way a 4 hour trek was on the cards from the Black Hmong village of Marta to the Red Dao village Taphin.
Passing through many homesteads and rice fields the locals were making their way to the Sunday market in Sapa mostly on foot which is around 20 kilometres or so, one way.
This upload is the advanced greeting party at one of the homes we passed, the parents were busy harvesting the last of the rice crop, in northern Vietnam they only get one crop a year and everything is done by hand no modern machinery here, just hard graft.
Thanks as usual for looking
