From a great morning last Saturday with Andy Graves (Hailwood) Thanks Andy for a great day, and hope the van is now fixed.

I was unsure about uploading this as my last mono died without trace, and this will no doubt go the same way. Particularly uploading this early on Sunday (going out shortly and evening Internet speed on Sunday is impossible). I just hope this appears as well on the web as it does in print. Yes theres noise (or atmosphere Wink ), this almost disappears in the print.

To say this was a difficult exposure is an understatement, I couldn't increase the DOF anymore and get a sharp image where it matters. Anyone who knows Grosmont this is the outside inspection pit - and yes I did get down and dirty for this - and its very dark in there!

ISO 4000 (yes not 400, one of the main reasons I upgraded from the D300)
F6.3 (max 5.7 @ this range according to EXIF)
1/160th sec
380mm,

All manual.

All comments welcome (and I do mean all comments) - but please look at the large version if you get chance.

Whoops just realized I forgot to turn on the signature and title on when I finished my final round of sharpening, oh well

Cracker Nick, not much else to say other than it gets my thumbs up. Captures the place [and people] perfectly.

Looking at the large is wonderful Nick, not sure I can understand why it has so few votes/ comments but the train shots from this location do appear to have suffered of late specially the monos

Thanks everyone.

Whilst it didn't make thew #30 Les I wasn't too surprised, the time I uploaded, been mono, the guy not the most Aesthetically pleasing etc

But its one of my fav images (in print) I also think until you look at the large you dont see the DOF, etc. As with my previous upload the GEA & user award means far more than the RC - I was also surprised with some of the people who did vote Wink
As you once said its not about votes but about photography.
