Nicely composed Nick, but I'm finding the lighting a little too harsh if I'm completely honest...

Thanks Adam, I was looking for quite a stark result, the still, is depicting the end of life, and I'm trying to recreate the lighting used in such images, which was one small window. In print it doesnt quite look as stark.

Great shot !!....lovely clarity !

Bet a sepia version would look good, especially if the candle was lit ??.Smile

Keith, I have a colour version, that is almost step ian in char hater, that is lit, I may upload at a later stage, I just prefer the mono, as that is what I had in mind when I set it up.

EDIT: Ive just put it up as a variant.

I like your composition Nick & some fab old books here.
I see why you extinguished the candle on the B&W version but I see there are some great colours around on V2...I do find the sepia/yellow tint just a tad strong tbh......colour version ?
The lighting does look very much gentler ( is that really a word ? Blush ) on V2.
Mono does enhance the shadows Nick but you have lost the little bottle standing up right at the very top.
I'll bet it looks fine in print.

Edit...wish you had enabled mods on this one, just had a bit of a play in P/S,reduced the yellows a little, enhanced the reds, dropped a touch more light onto that top bottle, looks very different.
