This is one of the early shots from my recent project of peak district images using longer focal lengths, this one was at 62mm. I'm trying to get away from my usual wideangle shots and trying to take more detailed pictures.
Love the light in this shot and I think the portrait format works well.

Well, I think you have been very successful in your venture, Nick. I love this shot with the main tree almost silhouetted against the warm hazy b/g and with lots of interest in the f/g, the lot benefitting from the side lighting. A very nice shot and one that I would have been happy to have taken.
A fine excercise with a good result - the composition, light and dof work well.
Like the light in this good comp too.
