Its a nice shot, however I think the scales on the white wings have reflected a lot of light, resulting in a slight overexposure.

In CS 4 its easily sorted by using the highlight tool to reduce highlights, as in the mod. If you dont have CS, you can use a layer multiply to darken the wings, adjust opacity to where it looks good, and ten use a layer mask to apply the correction to the wings only, ans the rest is exposed well.

Hope this helps

regards

Willie

I could have sworn I answered your post Willie.

Thansk for the info and version. I'll have to look in my book, I can't afford CS like you guys ... I have to struggle along with Lightroom 3 Grin

Many thanks as always
Nick

Neither could I if I didn't work in eduication!

Have you ever looked at this?

It's something of a poor relation but as a freebie or as an alternative to nothing, it's pretty good.

Bren.

Lightroom can do this really easily Nick. Use the touch-up brush to selectively reduce exposure on the wings, - its actually much faster than Photoshop.

Decent NH image, very decent considering the less than ideal gear - but the quality shows. Possibly the oof wing towards the camera a little distracting.

I'll come clean Bren, I've got PS elements 9 as well Grin although it was funded by getting rid of some other stuff I no longer had shelf room for.

Willie,

Yes I realised that last night when I was looking at the book (Scott Kelby - I can recommend it to anyone with LR - in fact I've got a copy for LR1 that may end up on e-bay ...)

Paul,

yes it is less than ideal but I usually take some ext tubes with me rather than lug the bag around with the sigma 180mm macro in on the off chance I might need it.

Thanks for the comments as usual guys, (& Guyess)

Much appreciated

Nick
