Closing the book...
I took on board the comments on last Thursday's upload, here's a cropped version without the peripheral figures.
Local historian Jim Standish, signing copies of his book about the nearby village of Mickley, watched by his grandson.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Thanks early birds. I resisted the crop for a while but I do like the result.
The original frame was composed carefully to include a lot more of the books on the table. The Local History Society had asked me to take the pictures for publicity purposes, so the actual books were rather important! But this focuses better on the human story.
We spent yesterday morning digging the road clear and might as well not have bothered, we're snowed in again. I think it's going to be a long week.

Leaving the best till last Moira great historical capture
Excellent crop. good detail and tones, for me this is a much better crop more intimate and works well in mono. good processing well presented.
John
The crop certainly pulls all the elements together nicely Moira.
Dougie
it would take me hours to dig the snow of the road here, there's so little and so well spaced out
Three people have mentioned intimacy, that's what I was trying to achieve. Thanks again.
Moira
This version tells, I feel, a different story to the first. That was an overview of the situation around his person, his being there, whereas this is on a far more personal level. This is a private moment, the previous a public one.
Malc
Malc put it well, this is the person, the previous was the occasion.
Dave
Good crop, Moira, think this works better comparing it to the original ![]()

One of those special moments. A genuinely fine capture. Top marks, m'dear, it's one for you (and subjects) to cherish.
As I was scrolling down the word "intimate" caught my eye - it is the word I have in my own mind Moira. An excellent image.
Mike
Like the communication going on, quite tender!
