A little tale about how I managed to capture these images………….to my delight I spotted a couple of clouded yellows yesterday, flitting around me but never settling. I stood and watched them for ages, they finally decided to go into the neighbour’s garden, where, of course, they settled. I whipped the metal fencing open, scrambled over bricks, wood, and goodness knows what, until I reached them and managed to take one very poor image, whereupon off they went again, this time down a steep slope and into the meadow. Without taking my eyes off them I followed in hot pursuit, wearing only slippers on my feet, and traipsed through dew sodden grass and thorn bushes up to my knees. When I finally reached them, trouser legs soaking wet, as were my socks and slippers, I crept close enough to take some images. I’m sure they were laughing at my attempts to capture them, because off they went again, only to settle a few yards away. This time on reaching them they didn’t move at all, I could have taken hundreds of photos if I had wanted to
Before leaveing them in peace I pointed my finger in front of them, and they duly obliged by scrambling onto my hand, as if to say ''come on then, we’re looking forward to being stars on ePZ!''. Who says photography isn’t fun ![]()

3 super captures Carol, I particularly like V2,
Fred.
thanks for the full description... still have a smile on my face
Sky is no limit for your macros (V1), Carol. How obliging these Critters are (V3)! - Raja.
Wonderful description, Carol, definitely leading you astray
. Beautifully captured but v1 is a real show stopper.

Love the story Carol, cracking shots , just shows what can be achieved with skill and determination, really well done,
Geoff.
Fantastic set Carol, I cannot pick a favourite as they are all outstanding captures ![]()
You deserve my UA just for your perseverance let alone these super photos.
For me, going out in search of that elusive special shot is what it's all about, nothing like a good
photography adventure ![]()
Very well done my friend ![]()
Best wishes
Ricky
A tremendous set of natural history images Carol, well done you on getting these close ups of this clouded yellow couple copulating. I had to chuckle at your narrative of you dashing off in hot pursuit after them and trespassing across your neighbours land! Although knowing the Greeks they are probably so laid back that they don't give a toss! If you tried this over here you'd get chased by rabid dogs or mad locals wielding sawn off shot guns shouting get orrrffff my laaaaaaannnnddddd!!!! This one should have had a GEA but the Tomcat only dishes out those to images with birds in, of both the feathered and non feathered variety!!!![]()

Three fine shots but V3 is my favourite as it evidences your unique communication skills with the insect world.
gorgeous light and texture and excellent taming success in v3 ![]()
Super story and it all turned out right in the end. Sylvia
