Wonderful detail and, above all, texture.
I can not name the carefully-shaped stick; but I think it is used to gather the corn and give it resistance against the sickle. Perhaps the stone is used for sharpening.
My brain needs such things to think about otherwise it will fall asleep!

The sickle and (possibly sharpening) stone are on the outside of the mess, the ? is indoors. I suspect that it's unrelated.
That wooden frame has a more interesting story for me. Fire damage, improvised joinery, someone as inept as I am at hammering in nails. Somehow you don't see that sort of workmanship nowadays... Wink
