Not my usual style, I know, but I think this works.
I was scanning some old negatives and this one came up. It was taken late one dull, drizzly February afternoon. The film had be pushed to within an inch of it's life to get a decent image and the result was really grainy. It looked awful in colour, but a bit of desaturation and tweak of the contrast and you've got a picture that evokes images of foggy 'Old London Town'. It seems to me to have a real wartime feel - don't ask me why (and no, I wasn't around then!), but I'd be interested to know what you think.

Thanks Mick and Ella.
Thanks Chris and welcome to EPZ - good to have you aboard.
Cheers Will, appreciate it.
This was taken late in February last year Steve. According to Big Ben it was about half past four and the light was terrible. We had the brother in law over from Seattle and he insisted we just kept snapping away until the light was gone entirely and the cold drove us to the nearest bar!
Thanks everyone.
Looks like an old news photograph. I really like it and earns a well-deserved "click".
Very atmospheric, Mike, and the graininess suits it very well. Classic semi-silhouetted skyline.
Jim
PS - Thanks for your comment on my EC. I notice I didn't answer your question on colour cast, but there were so many comments that I missed it at first. The answer is that the picture as it appears is more or less unaltered from the point of view of colour. I didn't alter the white balance of the camera at all, but shot under daylight WB.
Best wishes
Thanks Hoggle - hope you get your scanner working soon.
Thanks Jim - well done on your EC and thanks for the info.
You are quite right about the wartime look Mike. I remember well the blackouts, the buildings backlit by the burning buildings behind them, after the bombs had dropped.
The night the Thames was lit up by the conflagration. Excellent depiction, I do hope I never have to live through that again
Was only a sprog at the time![]()
Regards.
Ken
Very atmospheric, looks like the old pictures you see from the early 1900's.
Helen..
Thanks Steve, it seems I acheived what I intended.
Thanks Petar, appreciate your comments.
Cheers Sharon, glad you like it.
Thanks Lisa. With film you are generally stuck with what comes out of the camera, but with Photoshop even the ropiest shots can be saved :0)
Super Mike, you've really got the feel of old London, really love this.
Richard
I like it, expecially that old paper pattern which gives a particular charme.
