The wet rocks provide lots of excellent foreground interest and a good lead into the frame. You have also managed to keep the image sharp from the nearest rocks right through to the pier, which is important in an image like this. I would however, be tempted to replace the sky in this one Oliver, it's not really adding anything to the image. May be my eyes but is the horizon just a tad off? A few simple tweaks would add a lot to this one.

This is a good photo but as Jim said, a better sky would make it a GREAT photo.
The standard of the photos on this site is so high these days that even the tiniest detail matters so much, whereas a few years ago we seemed to be able to get away with soooo much, and I should know lol.
It's a good place to learn though, probably the best there is on the internet.
Well done.
Geoff.
I love the detail and colours in the foreground rocks. If only there was a bit more action in the sky.
Great shot and composition.

Another excellent image, so much detail and colours in the rocks.
The is a feature in Practical Photography, feb issue, on how to replace sky's. I know its like cheating, but with a shot like this, i think it would really make it.

An excellent image Ollie, think I may have commented on one of yours on another site today as well. We must stop meeting like this ![]()

Hi Ollie,
I'm not too worried about the sky on this one - the foreground and composition is strong enough to make it a good shot. It does however need straighteningas the horizon slopes down to the left - remember to use the sea as the horizon line and not the peir - I doubt they are parrallel.
