Oblivious to the menacing `Monty Python` cup of coffee about to devour him, this man in Vancouver blissfully carries on reading his newspaper. The news must be good. Has George Bush resigned?

The large version does so much more for this shot. For some reason the photo immediately reminded me of "black and white". Something with the use of colors and the set-up I think. Strange that the man decided to bring his own chair rather than sitting on the available bench.

LOL! Almost spat a mouthful of coffee all over my monitor when I got towards the end of your description.
The larger version is a must-see to fully appreciate this one. Once again, thanks for sharing Smile

When are you going to get yourself back to WA??? I drove down your old street last time I was up in Perth.

What can I say? . . . another classic!! When you analyse the anatomy of the shot, that bench is essential.

Well spotted and caught. I like the fact that he appears to have ignored the bench and brought his own chair. Might benefit from a crop to the right side, to bring him into the corner of frame, perhaps? Well done.

The angle of the light too is crucial to the success of this image. Cropping on the right would remove the man from the centre and upset the balance of the image - in my humble opinion. Perhaps you might ask Dubya for his opinion???!!!

This put a smile on my dial. Well observed and captured as always, David ... and I agree with Johnny, the off-centre composition works well ...
