Late yesterday afternoon I sat at the computer at the study window and suddenly became aware of a nut hatch feeding on the peanut feeder. I grabbed the camera, the nut hatch flew away and for the first time ever this woodpecker arrived. In the relative gloom I banged the ISO up ad snapped very quickly. This is the only presentable image (and this is not a pin sharp as I would like), but I am delighted to have caught this beautiful woodpecker with the camera. I am hoping that it will return as it now knows where to get a good feed!

Mike

Only time I've captured a woodpecker was at Bird Sanctuary.
So this is great having one in you own garden.
A friend built me a wooden structure which I can move around the garden
to get a better perch for bird images.
Hope we'll see more of this fellow.
