Hi folks,
hope you all enjoying the weather .I had planned on taking some images of dawn at whitbys west pier ,but its been closed !!!!Sad.Much to the frustration of photographers and anglers alike.Seems that its fate is doomed to follow the east pier.Scarborough borough are the ones to blame for this .Its almost as though they want tourists to cross whitby off the list of places to visit.I notice also that they only did this after the summer hols had ended, before sticking a huge fence up in front of the storm gate...There rant over !!!!!
One from a wee while back ..Winkhope you all have a great weekend ..right off to sort din dins

Thought Scarborough Council were too busy trying to chop a beech tree down in Irton!

Nice image, colour in the cloud balances the purple heather.

The isolated tree surrounded by Heather works very well.
John and I have just returned from a day out on the n Yorkshire coast , ending up at Whitby. I told John that the end section of the west pier had been closed due to health & safety issues - it was the first he knew about it. What beggars belief is the length of time work has been ongoing on the piers , with scaffolding spoiling any chance of photography. Work finishes, scaffolding gets removed, THEN the health and safety executive declare it unsafe!
Rant over,
C

Quite a bit of ranting here - but something that is going to disappoint quite a few photographers.
As an alternative image though this is very colourful and I love the rays of light from those clouds Smile

I am sorry for that Helen but i thought i would give it some air ...i grew up here as a child and as a boy whos family were involved in fishing etc .It really makes me sad to see so much decay .

The flowering heather adds such a delightful carpet of colour over the moorlands at this time of year, allowing for such attractive images like this.......beautiful shot, the grassy path carrying the eye in and the lone tree so well placed in the frame.
