Hi eZINE Photogs...thought I would put one or two travel pic's on here just for a change...Santorini...is one of my most favourite place's in Greece...such a magical place...Built on the edge of a cliff...!!! it is very clean...and very hot...!!! Smile

I enjoyed very much, my short visit here working as Photographer...if you have never been here...I can highly recommend it for your next holiday destination...

The island of Santorini Greece or Thira is located in the Cyclades islands, in the middle of the Greek Islands of the Aegean Sea. Santorini is, along with Mykonos and Crete, the most famous holiday destinations in Greece. It is a small group of volcanic islands and its name refers to to Saint Irene. Called also Strongili and Kalisti, the island was the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the world and what remains today is a submerged volcano and a caldera.
The island of Santorini is related to the myth of Atlantis.

I was lucky to visit Santorini for the day, from Crete. It is a truly magical place and is in the list of top 50 places to visit in your lifetime.

If I'm totally honest I'm not too struck on the composition of this image, having been to Santorini myself there are better photos available. The path, wall and sky take up two thirds of the picture and are also the least interesting. Just be careful with your composition as it can make or break your picture. Sorry to sound so harsh.

Please upload some more as with all the snow we are having in the UK, we wanted to be reminded of sunnier climates!!!

Andrew.

Andrew...The composition you see, is Very intensional...the path, takes you into the picture...I Like the wall there...makes one focus on what is in front of you...it is very difficult to go any place, other...than down the path "into" the picture...the sky...gave it a Great Big old dollop...to show the Deep Rich Colour...for those who have not seen a..."Med Sky"...!!!

aah..."the rule of thirds a"...whats that...? Smile ...Some times, it's worth bending "the Rules"..." to get a "different Composition"...
Some of the Greatest artist of our time have bent the rules...
Some people may not like it...some people may not agree with it...but if it show's what you want some one to see...Go for it...Smile

hope this helps you understand why I did, what I did...

in the time I was there, I took almost 200 images...and do you what...I even have some where the "Rule of Thirds" kick in...!!!...Smile

Thanks for your comments and thoughts Andrew...have a good one...Smile

I think you have composed this image very well, and disagree with what Andrew has said. I have been to Santorini myself, and I think you have really done it justice. Carol

I have been to the Greek islands[/link] and I must say you did a full justice with the place in your pictures. Its really a awesome island. Santorini is my favorite one, we were there for two weeks and we get to explore this place very well. Spectacular ruins, gorgeous sunsets and most importantly there people are very warm and inviting.
