Stack of 5 shots and processed with Combine ZP.
Each shot taken at f5.6, ISO 100, 1/200sec

Always wanted a chance to get a shot of one of these flies with the "rainbow" eyes and then one day I turn around and one is sitting on my windowsill (and later on, though without my camera, a female of the same species tried to eat my trousers).
Sadly I'm not sure of the magnification (EXIF how I wish you listed it!) but its at least around 3:1 and might be 5:1 since I was using f5.6 but I honestly don't remember so between 3 and 5.

Any comments/crits welcome - thank you

A truly superb bit of macro photography, showing up so much detail and that amazing eye particularly.

Brilliant macro and a lot of hard work! Have you come across the work of Thomas Shahan?

Beautifully taken shot, wouldn't know where to start but can admire it's difficulties.
You know what I'd love this as a poster in a classroom,

Aidan,,
