Today’s set of uploads is not for the squeamish! I was taking my usual stroll, with cam, in the meadow yesterday, but was not expecting to find anything to photograph as it was so windy. I had virtually given up when I almost trod on this beautiful preying mantis, together with its prey, a little grasshopper. He was the largest mantis that I have seen, about 3” in length, and proudly holding his dinner in his front ‘paws’. When I produced the camera he started to eat his dinner, which unfortunately was still alive at the time (he obviously likes his dinner hot! I have uploaded V.5 at the end, not the best of the bunch, but the first image I took, where the mantis was proudly holding up the little grasshopper for me to see.
