First light catches the distant fells across Derwentwater with the top of Skiddaw shrouded in cloud. Only the faint click of activating shutters punctuates the silence.
2 secs @ f14, ISO 100 + 2 stop ND grad [hard] + 2 stop full ND.
Thanks for popping in on this one, hope you like. Will try to catch up a little later, work calls.
Really like the gentle subdued tones throughout image. Nice one.
The early morning light and pale pastel colours are beautifully captured, and with the jetty and boulders standing out more starkly against that backdrop, this is a most attractively composed image. So peaceful and refreshing. Excellent shot, Paul.
Fabulous image !
Such a clear reflection it appears the wharf is floating in the air. Beautiful capture........Sandy
You paint a very vivid picture of the scene in your description as well as taking one.First class.
Great shot Paul, love the balance of the elements: stones, sticks and hills. Great title too
superb coniditions! Did you get any good shots of a smouldering red BMW by any chance? ;o) looks like the same day
Thanks all ... no Robert, it was pitch black and in the outside lane with wagons and cars still driving through the wreckage strewn across the 3 carriageways ... more concerned for my safety and the kit
A beautiful capture what a lovely place. Love it's peaceful feeling and great tones.
Beautiful composition and wonderful colours with
hey it's the freaky jetty...still making my eyes go funny
cracking capture mate...
Your eyes were already funny mate ... freaky jetty or not
Lovely morning light and hues Paul.
Calm, after the storm Paul. Ron.
Gorgeous subtle lighting Paul.
Thanks guys, definitely the calm after the storm Ron ... was much needed too
Subtle light indeed mate. V nice.
Was going to say shame the camera wasnt higher to stop the posts cutting into the trees on the horizon but I have seen how tall you are! Magical light and what a background!
Cheers guys for your time.
The level of the post tops doesn't bother me Dave as I feel the slight mist has helped to knock back the distant land & trees and provides enough separation for me. That said, the camera was pretty much at full extent here, as I wanted to get just some of the walkway top into the shot rather than it being almost side on. So the only way to probably get that angle would be for some steps and a bigger tripod
A huge thanks Alan for your UA, I'm glad you liked the shot enough to award it
Or a helicopter! Fair point Paul. Is that frost on the walkway?
Superb picture, lovely tones and reflections!
Very, very slight frost Dave ... might have even thawed at this point, not sure ... my, what good eyes you have!!!
Thanks too Marc, appreciate your time.
It's a glorious shot. Ta for the tech details re the filters. That helps us aspiring togs a lot.
Cheers Dave. Glad the tech details could help, though having looked at your work there's not much I can teach you that you probably don't already know. Some very nice stuff in your PF.
Lovely soft colours across the lake, nice bold pattern in the pier.
Very serene image Paul, and waxing lyrical to round off the presentation. I'm impressed.
Just setting the scene Jim, just setting the scene
Cheers guys, though technically it's actually two piers/jetties Dougie, you can just make out the legs of the old pier underneath the new one.
Enjoy your day guys,
A superb image.
Blimey, 3-in-a-row ... cheers indeed Pierre
Beautiful colouring on those distant hills Paul,I'm not surprised to see this one with an extra sticker.
Thank you Janet, one of my faves from the weekend TBH ... glad you approve too
The beautifully soft colours in this enhance the sense of calm...
Have to admit that I think the jetty is a bit freaky, too mind - but my eyes are a bit funny anyway!
LOL, cheers Cathy
love the pastel colours and that glassy water, amazed youve got that with a 2 sec exposure. congrats on the HC.lesley
The water was like a mirror at this point Lesley, the jetty's quite sheltered in this location. Thanks for dropping by
Fabulous image, really excellent. Gorgeous colours, shape and composition. Good to get the info on the shot too, really helpful.
Thanks Annie, I do try to include the details ... whenever I remember
Oh i LOVE this image with its reflection and pastel colours. Makes my eyebrows going Wow!
Thank you Nella
