Took this during a week of horrendous weather on Skye last year. I had intended reaching those towering peaks but the weather had other ideas, Hope it works for you.
Beautiful image with superb detail and lighting super and composition, very well taken.
A lovely image with well controlled exposure throughout the shot
Cracking shot mate. I love the tones in the heather and the rocks, this has bags of atmosphere. At this size the slab on the left is quite large and plain compared to the rest of the shot but images on a screen are often different to when you print them off and stand back to appreciate them so I am sure that it is not actually an issue.
The movement in the water , the positioning of the elements in the frame and detail throughout the shot is, as ever, superb, and I love the sky. Tops marks for making the most of the conditions and finding a new vantage point (not that I've been there :o) )
A real quality image imo. Excellent camera work and processing.
Superb composition with an excellent POV giving prominence to the f/g waterfall and rocks, but with the distant peaks cradled in the curve of the near horizon and capped with those menacing clouds. Despite the weather, you have come back with marvellous shot.
Beautifully composed and captured. Excellent image.
Many, many thanks to all who have voted and commented on this one. A special thanks to Alan (Paintman) for his User Award which I am chuffed to receive.
Ade - I was lucky to stumble across this comp. Hadrian went on ahead and missed this scene completely.
Ronnie - I was there for a week and it rained every day and collectively we had about ten minutes of useable light the whole time we were on Skye!
stunning and well deserved HC and UA.
I keep meaning to get up to these falls, but the steep ascent puts me off.
You've caught the mood of the mountain very well here.
Thanks a lot, Martin and Yung. I've always enjoyed photographing waterfalls and the difusued light was ideal forthis one.
Dougie - I wasn't sorry to retreat shortly after I took this as it was clear to me who was boss - mountain or man.
Superb capture, congrats on the HC
Stunning capture...... as Dougie says the mood of the mountains is all there.
In contrast the week I was there it was wall to wall sunshine (apart from a fog spot at The Quiraing) which can be not so good for togs either.
Diolch yn fawr Phil, Valleywalker and Chris. Much appreciated. I got one of the Quiraing when I was there and had 20 seconds of wonderful light at dawn before the rain resumed. I'll dig it out and post it. It's always been a pain to process because no matter what I do the colours look incredible and over saturated. I'd appreciate your thoughts when I post it. Cheers all.
A startlingly beautiful picture. Quite brilliant
This is very special indeed. Perfect composition and wonderful mood to the hills behind. I, like you, intend climbing them one day!! Not a bad compensation for not getting on top though.
Thanks PhilT2 and Dave. That volcanic stone is as sharp as glass but I've never seen anything quite like it anywhere else. Definitely slippery when wet, Dave so I'm not sorry I abandoned any thoughts of bagging it.
works for me a treat, congrats on all the awards.lesley
Lovely shot, takes you right into it.
I don't recall seeing this one of yours before..... stunning shot, love it!
Nice shot Sir, Did you clone my head out of this one? ;0)
You need to get back up North sometime, Rather than messing about on the coast!!!!
Stunning! And wonderful gallery too
Fantastic capture!!! I like it!
