Winch: "A mechanical device used to pull in (wind up) or let out (wind out) or otherwise adjust the tension of a rope or cable. In its simplest form, it consists of a spool (winch drum) and attached hand crank."
Well, I think this is the simplest form! Found in Alesund, Norway. I had hoped to get a brochure picture of these buildings' reflections, but the conditions weren't perfect enough and I only had one chance.
V2 is an alternative viewpoint.
V3 shows the winch in context.
V4 is an aerial view of Alesund.

Thanks for having a look,
Pamela.

THIS is a great series of reportage, etc. #1 is the best but it has a great supporting cast!
Also, #1 uses selective focus and shows a sense of depth VERY SKILLFULLY!

This set exemplifies the virtues of the multiple upload facility, exploring a subject, building up the 'bigger picture'. Very nicely done. I favour V1 for the strength of the composition. Not an easy subject but you've given so much here.

You make life so difficicult for us amateurs to choose. They all look damn good to me. However I do like the overhead aspect in V4. It is very well composed indeed.

Your sensitivity for critical shot selection has worked a treat here, #1 being the outstanding image for me; the supporting cast is very strong, with #2 and #3 to give scale and perspective - and of course #4 for general context. The colours are superb under that cool northern light.

All four are stunning captures, but I prefer V4 because, with the man standing next to it, you can see the size of that wonderful winch.
Amazing colours, detail, DoF & composition in all of them.

I saw something along these lines at Bristol Docks recently, and wondered how would be the best way to capture it, well now I know!!.
If only I can get back there again now to try to get a shot as good as this.

Superb Pamela.

saw this winch and it reminded me of the same thing i uploaded nearly a year ago, it was one found at the docks in Bridgwater Sommerset, I've done a mod for you where I have tried a technique that i have been dying to try, where you make the scene look like a model village, I'll leave wether it has worked in your hands..Smile
