Firstly, I would like to thank Moira (mrswoolybill) and Malcolm (saltireblue) for favouring my "Dragonfly Detail" with their User Awards.
Still at Harold Hillier Gardens, I found this enormous dragonfly sculpture hovering over the lake.
The only small vantage point was from behind and above it, and the area was in shade. I wasn't happy with the pictures, but did a bit of work on them. Its tail was so long that I couldn't get the whole of it in any of my shots without sacrificing its head and wings.
So, all of the backgrounds are of the lake and the reflections within it, and I hope I have given the impression that the dragonfly is flying over it. There are 4 versions and I really didn't know which one to lead with.
Pamela.

Now I would have put v4 as number 1, as the view of the whole wings, the symmetry of the dragonfly and the feeling of flying with him take first place out of the four uploads Pamela ![]()

Hi Pamela,
My favorite is V4. I like the illusion of the dragonfly actually flying over the lake.
Peter
Like a scene from Avatar
A fine illusionary image, Pamela.
Dave
I can imagine that this was a difficult subject - long tail, long wings...
I also favour V4 - it shows the stretch of the wings and gives the impression that we are following the creature down to land on the water.
Moira
It's certainly a super piece of artwork, and this is another fine set here, Pamela, keep 'em coming!
I'd find it hard to pick which to lead with, like each one equally ![]()

Got to be V4. a splendid photo Pamela, the light and the colours, good reflections, nice angle and wings of this iron clad dragoon fly!, that was intentional lol. looks like he means business, good photo but I do like them all for different reasons, just V4. stands out well done! regards Leon.![]()

Hmmm, seems like I should have chosen V4 as the leader
!
John, you are attracted I think by the eye, you know the one you sieve your vegetables with lol. well yes Pamela perhaps that would be my second choice, they border on abstract in the way you have taken them! I wonder how I might have approached the subject! it's a mind bender really, but I will finally settle for those two, regards Leon, controversial who me no!![]()

Great metal beasties!
Like V4, best definitely.
Lavina
V4 is by far the best, Pamela. A jockey's eye view, as if we were riding on its back.
Malc
That is an enormous metalic dragonfly Pamela, v4 has to be the pick though
i have taken many dragonflies, but never got this close ![]()
