Thankyou, Lillian, for your User Award on my Poppy Crown.
I left my Passion Flower at my last home when I moved, but have since bought 2 more, one of which is a blue variety, so I can't wait to see that one bloom.
I wanted to show 3 different aspects in one shot of the unique flower structure of this fruiting vine, together with a tendril and some foliage.
It is sometimes called Christ’s Thorn, Christ’s Crown, Christ’s Bouquet, Crown of Thorns, Jesus’ Passion and Mother of God’s Star. The names derive from its structure being symbolically related to the Passion of Christ and the crucifixion:-
Pointed leaves = Holy lance
Tendrils = Whips used in the flagellation of Christ
10 petals and sepals = The 10 faithful apostles
Radial filaments = The crown of thorns
Chalice-shaped ovary = The Holy Grail
3 stigmata, 5 anthers = His wounds
Blue and white colours = Heaven and Purity
Pamela.

These are beautiful Pamela, and well captured. I have passion vine in my yard, and I agree with Carol that they can be difficult to photograph well.
Anne
These are such photogenic flowers. This presentation is by far the best I have seen so far.. Excellent in presentation b\g colour & clarity of details...

Your passion for flower photography comes across so well in this extra special image Pamela. What a wonderful trio of beautiful flowers that you have photographed and presented so expertly. Your write up is fascinating, I too never realised the historical significance

Wow, 5 User Awards, certainly a record for me!
My sincere thanks to Chris, Michaela, Ed, Adrian and Andrew.
JASMINE: Yes, their fruit is obviously Passion Fruit, which is edible. I scoop out the inside and eat it with icecream.

I am quite overwhelmed, another two User Awards, I've never had so many on one picture!!!
Thankyou so much, Malcolm (saltireblue) and Robin (graceland).
This is a brilliant image - testified by the amount of awards. The diferent angles of the blooms, the leaves with their shiny surface - the tendril... just perfect. And not to forget the extremely good photography skills. This is artwork.

OMG! Another User Award, that makes 8 altogether. I can't believe it.
Thankyou so much, Paul.
