I was tempted to conclude this flower series, but have some more, so hope you don't get too bored with them.

"Unkempt about those hedges blows,
An English unofficial rose." Rupert Brook.

The wild dog rose brightens our hedgerows, and not only provides rose hips for Vitamin C, but these can also be used as treatment of bladder and kidney disorders. The ancient Greeks believed that the roots could cure a man bitten by a rabid dog, which is one possible explanation for its name. It's not because it's of no worth, by comparison with cultivated garden roses, and 'dog rose' is not a disparaging name. The Romans adopted the name Rosa Canina, which was then translated directly into English.
It is the county flower of Hampshire (where I live), and was the stylized rose of medieval European heraldry, and is still used today.

Pamela.

Apart from it looks and aroma Pamela,
I never realised a flower could be so useful.
Although I have heard certain flowers are used in home brew wines !!
A fine shot.

Superb clarity of the wild dog rose, very well isolated. I would never have thought of choosing that colour for a background, but it is the shades of the flowers and works oh so well. A brilliant image. Carole

Pamela, the image of the roses and leaves themselves are already amazing. But that background sets this off a treat.

Bravo!

These look SO similar to something we have in our garden. Something I've always called 'the wild rose'. Although ours is a lighter pink.

By the way, LOVE your comment on Manuel's pic...lol. Cracked me up GrinGrinGrin
