Wells and ornately tiled benches are two of my favourite finds in Spain, so the Deposits of Hagar and Wells Creams in Orihuela more than satisfied these two loves of mine. The well has a bench either side and all are beautifully decorated with scrolls, flowers and historical figures, but it's sad to see quite a bit of damage to these tiles. I offer you 8 versions, from closeups to the whole scene. The last picture shows the building at the top, accessed by steps.
A lot is lost in translation, but I have found a little bit of information. It is also known as Water Deposits and Cremos Water Wells, and The Wells of Creams, and dates from the 19th/20th century. It's a large water deposit in the Mount of San Miguel, with 2 wells which distributed water to the city.
The signs say that the water is not drinkable, but I removed them from all but the last picture.
(These were taken with my Canon compact that I bought after the theft of my cameras in Spain).
Pamela.

Thank you for your kind comments today. Greatly appreciated. Glad I decided to go with your previous suggestion. Now all I need to do is remember to stop looking in on the site so much!!
