Firstly, a big thankyou to Philip_H for his User Award on The Sad Soldier.
Near to the "Waiting Soldier" (my last upload) who sits on a bench near the Town Hall in Cartagena, Spain, is the Walking Sailor with his bag slung over his shoulder. So this isn't a Sit-By-Me statue, but a Stand-By-Me one.
Again, a life-size bronze statue in uniform, a lone sailor on his way home.
V1 has the original background, a rather unattractive wall.
In V2 I have given him a different background.
Vs 3 & 4 show him facing the Town Hall. I couldn't get his legs and the top of the Town Hall within the frame, sorry.
Cartagena (pronounced car-ta-hay-na) is a Mediterranean city and major Spanish Naval Station, and boasts many beautiful statues and the natives like this type of art, or street sculpture. It is a city that is very proud of its naval history, which dates back to the 18th century, and the streets are filled with monuments paying tribute to its heritage.
