The title would be quite fitting for yesterday's deluge but this was, in fact, the venue for the swimming in the 2012 Olympics in Stratford, East London.
I had gone for the sunset which was anything but spectacular so this was about half-an-hour later.
Handheld at 12,800 Iso, 1/20s, f8 @ 29mm. No filters.
Off to Scarborough on Thursday for a week or so.
Enjoyed your break
Hope the weather improves for you
a superb evening shot.
I like you you included the lamps on the bank you are on as they balance with the down lights under the curved roof of the Centre. And you have reflections from the former in the shiny barrier fence and with the latter in the river. Just the right time of day/night to have some residual blue in the sky which again compliments the blue in the windows, no doubt from interior lighting. All in all a very pleasing composition and shot, Dave.
Excellent image with effective composition and making the most of the combination of electric lights and natural crepuscular light.
Stunning clarity and colour in this perfectly exposed and composed capture.
Excellent Dave, super composition and exposure,
You don't seem to need the sunsets Dave
you still come away with a stunning shot, as this is!
the reflected lights processed 'perfectly'
good use of the barrier and lights Dave great reflections a well balanced image
Impressive low light capture, Dave.
You certainly made the most of this lost sunset, this is definite OOW image, the colours are striking, the composition is all it should be, giving an overall impressive image.
A thoughtfully composed image, Dave - most impressive high ISO work.
And taken without the help of your three-legged friend, too!
The reflections and depth of colour are excellent.
I rarely use high ISO, but if I thought I could get it to produce images like this I'd be happy.
Done well here Hand held Dave, good evening lighting reflections and colours
Superb shot Dave... Can see this as a long exposure... 12800 ISO amazing... Mine is spot welded at 100
Lovely rich colours and excellent reflections Dave
Enjoy your coming break
Love the richness of the colours in this.......the reflections........beautiful scene.
Another fine "London " study Dave ( you have quite a collection !!) Lens used perfect for hand held in this light.
Wow, very impressive.
Don't forget your bucket and spade.
Nobody does these better Dave, well done once again. - Gary
Super capture Dave really like this image a lot
This is superb, love the deep colours and reflections.
That rich blue sky is wonderful as a contrast for the lights.
Swimming pool is a beautiful shape and reflections are stunning.
An image you should be very satisfied with Dave.
Great colours and composition.
I don't even like cities... but I still always seem to click on your photos on the gallery anyway
This is another beautiful "cityscape" - and the colours and composition with the lines and reflections are great.
I'd never have recognised it. By going out early and late you give us a completely different perspective on the city.
An outstanding LL image, Dave. Great reflections, comp, & POV. Well worth waiting for this shot in spite of the deluge.
An excellent night capture, Dave. Carol
Give my regards to Scarborough.............
A fine shot Dave.
And the last time I was in Scarborough was back in the eighties.
Had a great pub there called the Lord Nelson.
I don't suppose it will still be open today though !!
A cracking night shot Dave, with some super reflections
Excellent photo of this stunning building
I love this with the vivid colours and reflections.
Beautiful reflections & night shot.
Another riverside dream Dave.
Great timing, the dark purple sky is lovely and works well to darken the water and therefore enhance its reflections. I initially wasn't sure about the inclusion of streetlights on the left but on reflection (see what I did there?!) I think they and the path balance the composition very effectively. Not a bridge in sight either and it's still a sumptuous image!
Love the composition especially the reflections.
Great comp, colour and reflections. Shame about the Sunset but at least you still bagged a decent image
Enjoy your time at Scarborough
WOW!!! what more can I say Dave ?
Superb composition and a teriffic image Dave. Well done for keeping that camera so steady at 1/20sec.
Excellent capture Dave. stunning night shot..Lin
Deserves to do well...........
Very very good Dave - enjoy lovely Scarborough,
One of your excellent low light images with beautiful reflections , Dave ! --- Jukka.
A Brilliant night shot
A great shot as always Dave,
Enjoy your break.
Impressive - your handholding seems to be getting more and more extreme!!
The comments and awards say it all, Dave, Superb shot.
Beautiful. GREAT handheld photo!!!!
Superb, Dave. I can't see any noise at all... worth every penny! Beautifully taken.
Dramatic low light shot
Thats a darn funny place to keep your wax crayons Dave
Spot on, just perfect
Superb reflections and colours Dave, and the contrast between the straight line on the left and the sweeping curve on the right really makes the composition.
Dave, all has been said but If I could just say this is why I love to watch for your night shots as they are of such a high standard.........to be admired by all.
Spectacular... A lot of blue in this one! Not my favorite colour but in this case it looks marvelous...
Very good work! You should sell your London photos for poscards!
Now that's clarity.....................love how crisp the arch looks and the way the light falls from the lamp............top work mate.
Gosh so many comments nearly forgot what I was going to say.
This shot is Terrific , best time of day or evening to take photos if you can is while there is still some detail in the sky. A wonderful sharp bridge and great colourful reflections xx
