An answer to Mike's photo, Patrick's Point, which he shot while I was down here in this slime! He managed to find a great spot which I had never considered despite me visiting this place perhaps 30 times since I began photography over 3 years ago.

The much anticipated EPZ-San Francisco Octoberfest meetup finally happened. Turnout was heavy with a total of two photographers in attendance plus one brave wife! That was twice the turnout of photographers compared to what was anticipated just a few weeks earlier....lol....

We had a great time on the meet. I showed them some views below and above the fog, which then was gracious enough to clear away to show the best sunset in months with actual real clouds moving in as the sun set. After about 200 consecutive clear sky days besides the fog, this was a welcome sight and we were quite lucky on this evening.

After we took a few shots, we had a rather fragrant dinner at the Stinking Rose Cafe in the city. I think I still smell the garlic!

0.8-second exposure @F11 with ND grad 0.9. The reds were slightly desaturated to retain detail in the clouds.

Camera:Canon 5D Mark I (for now!)
Lens:Canon 17-40L @ 22

Well you visit a place just the once and they go and name a bridge after you. It truly is the land of opportunity where anything is possible Wink

This is really nice Patrick. I can't believe you got so much detail out of those foreground rocks. I know how dark they were!

As for the Stinking Rose Cafe. I think it may be the reason why we got given a row to ourselves on the flight from San Francisco to Philadelphia Smile

Great movement and colours again Patrick.

All the best

Scotty

Thanks for stopping by for a look! I seem to only have time on my Sunday evenings to get a shot ready and upload it to EPZ. So here it is.

Glad you noticed Dougie. It was quite a dramatic feast visually and I had to tone it down a bit to avoid various colours being blown out.

Well Johanna, there was at least beer at this Octoberfest, though I had to drive home on a weekday so I abstained!

Yes Jeanie, some weird stuff appeared in the sky and it turned lots of colours so we got out our cameras before it was all gone. ..lol..

Completely clear and 30c today.....

LOL Mike, yes there are lots of possibilities out here, though the maps still say 'Golden Gate..' on them for some odd reason. They will all have to be changed, which is a lot of work.

After I moved away from our original position with those dark rocks, I found that these ones had a better angle to more light so I made these the foreground instead. I might be able to salvage the dark rock shots though by doing a multi-processed pseudo-HDR on them.

And yes, at least you were not kicked off the flight for endangering the crew and passengers with toxic gasses! Can't say the same for my unfortunate co-workers the next day, but that's another story!

Well Jouko, I'm sitting by the front door every day waiting... and waiting... Nothing yet. They have not even shipped it yet though I ordered it on the day of the announcement back in September.

Got something caught in your throat Scotty?? lol...

Thanks for looking!

Yes Malcolm, the Humber has a longer center span, but the overall length of the GGB is about 1000 feet longer . And the SF-Oakland bay bridge is 2,000 feet longer but with 4 spans!

Hi Patrick,
what a beautiful shot, love the fiery flame like clouds in the sky and the way they reflect light on the sea,the angle of the bridge, rushing of the waves on the way in and the way they slow done and slither and roll round the rocks and onto shore or out of my screen i think, wonderful colours and tones, texture and i love the wet, slippery top of the rocks, the errant bits of water flying away on their own over the rocks and you see through them to the rock texture, the detail is magnificent.Spectacularly captured.take care,AnnSmile

I can almost hear the rush and gurgle of the water - and it's rather good the way that the movement in the sea is mirrored by the movement in the clouds, so high and silent...
