This Aloe polyphylla sits on a hillside at the University of California, Berkeley Botanic Garden. It is nearly 1 meter wide.
Taken January 27, 2005.

1m across, don't need a macro lens then )
ah, isn't nature wonderful. nicely captured.
Thanks! This is such a great plant and I definitely did not need a macro lens, more like a wide angle lens! The camera lens was at eye level looking straight down.
Stunning - love the shape and details - fills the frame well.
just jumped out at me, striking colour and composition. clicked

Thanks for the HC and all the nice words! I didn't do much to it in PS. Just cropped it and increased overall saturation by about 10%. I did take about 10 photos and chose the best one.

Thanks for all the comments. This has taught me a good lesson, but I still have a lot to learn when I look at the works of so many people who contribute to the website!
This is great - would look great as a big poster
How did I miss this ?
Such a strong image and pattern. Great work!
This was made by nature?? Fantastic.
And a fantastic shot.
Outstanding. Sharp, crisp and beautiful saturated colours. This Aloe only occurs on the highlands of Lesotho, Southern Africa and is on the Red Data list for endangered flora. It is targeted by plant poachers - one can see why.
Great photo. Crisp, clean and great colour.
