SE5 A

‘Cat among the Pigeons’

Over Flander’s skies a marauding SE5 falls on a couple of rather unwary Fokker triplanes. One breaks hard port and dives to relative safety - the other is less positive in avoiding action and ends up behind the SE5’s guns. A daily action sequence during WW1 where few pilots lived beyond the first few weeks of combat.

A companion image to ‘Bad day at the Office’ - must keep an even hand!!

Your knowledge of this history is astounding, as are your images of that time in history. You make the Aces come alive again.

Another excellent compilation, Pat: looks so realistic, you would think an image had actually been taken from a fourth plane out of shot........although photography was not so advanced in those days.

I just read the Goshawk Squadron, recommend the read just google it, they flew these birds to war and they were a sturdy platform to shoot from those days. Nice photo well made up shot that captures the shot in the back so often mentioned in the book...Chen

Excellent image Pat, fabulous work.
