Shot of the Bracklinn Falls and bridge on the Keltie Burn, Callander.

The original bridge was washed away in a day of flash floods and landslides in August 2004 and I can still remember the chaos of that day. It is hard to imagine how high the water level was on that day.

The new bridge was opened in November 2010 and was winched over the gorge by hand as the location was too remote for a crane.

Thanks,

Paul

A grand image of this place I knew nothing about Paul A good history lesson for those of us who were ignorant of the event.

Thanks Dougie, Tony & Phil.

Dougie, as Phil said this was a tricky viewpoint to get at. I had to scramble down a slippery bit of bank that was eroded in the same flood to get down to plunge pool level. The area is still worth exploring though and there are smaller falls above the bridge.

You take the road signposted for the falls from the main road in Callander as you head towards Doune. There is also a path that leads along the crags above the town.

Phil, I didn't do much from above the bridge. I saw a couple of salmon trying to jump the falls though.
