I believe this hoverfly to be of the Scaeva pyrastri variety. Here it is feeding on some colurful Ragwart. Hope you like the shot and thanks for passing by.

He's a beauty, Paul, wonderful markings, and so kind of him to land on such a pleasing flower, too. (Not St. John's wort, though!) It looks very much like a climbing shrub that we have in Crete. Carol
