My Minolta 7D has died, well, I did manage to drop it onto tarmac,(not recommended) it can't be repaired cos the parts needed are no longer available, so I'm camera-less, a camera-less photographer
Apparently Sony could well compensate me with some cash-back so I've sent off my receipt and am hoping for some good news.
Here's one I prepared earlier

That is one awesome macro. The best close up I have seen on here for some time. The detail is just phenomenal. Great work. It gets my user award for sure!!
Great shot, pin sharp and superb detail.
Excellent capture....Superb detail...............
Thanks for the award Paul
Sorry to hear the news on your camera, hope Sony comes to your rescue. Lovely shot, composition & details.
You still have your compact that you dropped as well....
If you decide to drop some money, please come to my house for a cup of tea....
Thanks Mia, me too.
Thanks Cole, yes, the compact is working ok after dropping it at Focus but after using a DSLR I can't take serious photos with a 3mp compact.
I don't seem to drop money, just cameras
Wondewrful macro. I hope you get some money towards a new camera.
Superb colours and detail.
Nature perfected. Love the composition Geoff. You could always enter a competition and win one ! Ron.
Superb! ....broken camera, broken ribs ....whatever next?
You sound a bit accident prone! Sorry to hear of your loss. But things will be on the up before long, you see!!
A great shot, amazing detail and composition. Excellent work.
Good detail, Nice work
Now thats classy work... so sorry to hear about the camera
Great close up. Love the greens.
Amen to that!
I can't even find these things far less photograph them. This is top quality natural history work.
1st class close-up shot.
Spot on.. superb details.
this is superb, love the colours and the clarity, absolutely spot on, just noticed the other little bug in the grass head as well.
sorry to read about your camera as well
Thanks Sue, I think you're right too, there does seem to be a small bug there, never noticed it b4.
Fantastic image for a camera less photographer!
Thanks Barbara, don't rub it in
Quote: broken camera, broken ribs ....whatever next?
You get your wallet out maybe? Lol!! Remember this well mate. Nicely taken with my never used ex lens!! Get an E bay account, sell those lenses and get that D3!! You know it makes sense!!
You need to get possessions away from home cover on your home insurance! Then get one of those protecter covers for your camera!
Take care, hope you'll be shooting new stuff soon.
Wonderfully detailed close-up composition
The D300 would do me Phil but changing all my gear would be too expensive, anyway, I'm sure Sony will be right up there soon so I'll probably stay put.
I do have that cover Jon but I live above and behind our business premises and the policies are all combined, they told me I'd lose about £400 no claims bonus if I claimed, then probably £300 the next year, then £200 the next etc, so it wasn't worth making a claim in this case.
Firstly this is an excellent macro shot and I'm sorry to hear about your camera. A bit late to offer suggestions I know but I dropped my camera once and ever since I have never used it without the neck strap until I could put it back in it's bag. A devastating experience, I've been there myself. Hope everything works out for you.
Great shot indeed. Best of luck with whatever you end up with - at least you've got a full summer's practice ahead!
Thanks Geoff, I was travelling to North Wales for a photography holiday and had the camera on the back seat of the car between some bedding for safety as I stopped to take photos on the way and didn't fancy taking the lens off an on to put it in my bag every time.
When I got to the caravan and unloaded the car, I grabbed the bedding, forgetting that the camera was safely wrapped inside it and it fell out onto the tarmac, only dropped about 2 feet and landed on the corner and it hasn't worked properly since despite being in for repair about 4 times.
Excellent closeup; great DOF, detail and composition and love all the greens!
excellent clarity of detail.
A marvellous Macro Geof . In 40 shades of green . A great composition .xx Into my favourites xx
Poor Boy you must feel devastated without a Camera . Is it not insured ? Mine is now after I dropped my 90m Tamron and it wasn't on my insurance . It all is now !!
Thanks Mavis, Sony have agreed to send me a compensation cheque for £416 so I've accepted, had no choice really, no point having my camera back if it's not focussing properly.
I'll have separate insurance for my next one.
