A very extraordinary reaction, I must say! but your dog is exceptionally sweet
Would reduce the ISO though, 1600 is too high ( Was the lighting too dull? ) because the amount of noise is increased because of higher ISO.
B/W is working splendidly and the focus on the eye is spot on!
Also you could have tried and included much more of its top part though, its looking just a bit cut off
Anyway an awesome capture
He is gorgeous, such a pretty dog!
I really like the format you've chosen and having it in black & white really brings our attention onto those beautiful sparkling eyes!
A lovely pet portrait. Nice and sharp, and well exposed. Good composition.
There's a trade-off here between maintaining a shutter speed and aperture that will give good sharpness and the high ISO, which gives the noise that Ishan mentions, and which is certainly visible in the shot.
I wonder whether you did a lot of sharpening here? If so, that will have emphasised the grain quite a lot.
I've had a look at this in Elements Levels, and this confirmed what my eyes were telling me - that this is a bit short of lighter tones.
One option you have, especially if you upload the occasional shot in the Critique Gallery, is to have modifications of your picture posted by other members. This can be a great way to see different ways of interpreting a shot, and learning about the things you can do to make the picture you end up with convey the atmosphere that was there when you shot it - correcting the distortions that the photographic process often introduces, because the camera is less flexible than the human eye.
