Well...
For those of you that don't know, I was lucky enough to win Practical Photography's Photographer of the Year this week. ![]()
The final theme of "lust of life" certainly got the grey cells working. For an explanation of this image and the theme, you have to buy the mag ![]()
Or you can see the details on my website.
This is one of the two images that I submitted albeit slightly differently edited and I'll upload the second one in a couple of days.
Finally, big congrats to John Patrick (newfocus) who also made the final - you can see his excellent images in the mag too.
Cheers for looking, Paul

saw it before on your website.
Great image. Like the dappled light and the various lusts for life.

That light and glow again, and so much detail. these shots always tend to look grainy and grim, drenched with realism, but with you they look like a dream sequence. Congrats... it just doesn't get much better than this.
Congratulations Paul, interesting effects in this one.
Ant.
Many thanks folks - much appreciated.
This post processing technique is something I have been working on for the last month or so and occasionally a bit hit and miss but I was very happy with this one - the light cast on the theatre really helped.
Cheers again, Paul
A stunning and thought provoking shot...again well done ![]()

An amazing effect/technique you have developed here Paul. I ;ove the detail and olours wich appear to be slightly subdued but without losing any of the important detail. A super shot.
Want to share the technique?
Many thanks all - much appreciated.
No real secret in the post processing. I just use different layers and adjust each one in a specific area to tone, detail, darken etc. All blended from the same RAW file.
Cheers, Paul
Yep - saw this just today when I got a bit of time to read my copy of Practical Photography. Really impressive stuff. Big congrats on the POTY award - really good to see it go to an EPZ member. All the best. Bruce
