Statue of Constantine outside York Minster
Well done on the award Paul.Great shot and a good choice off frame
The colour difference between the statue and the background has ruined this. I'm all for letting the subject stand out against the background, but this is completely over the top.
Thanks for your opinion Bri. The colour of the photo was changed as a whole not just the statue. That's just the way it came out and I liked it. The Editor obviously likes it as does Tony69 but each to his own, it wouldn't do for everyone to like the same things.
Paul, the Editor does indeed like it, as I'm sure do many others. On the whole, I like it too - great composition - but the statue is quite clearly a different colour to the background. Run the dropper tool over the background in HSL mode and the HUE is in the 50-60 region. Run it over the statue and it's around 170-200. This is very noticeable to me, hence my previous message. Try desaturating it and you will see what I mean.
I agree with Big Bri on this. Also I think the heavy frame could be removed. A good shot but capable of improvement.
as one who knows this statue well, I think that without the obvious manipulation it might have died a death. It works for me as a piece of graphic work rather than a photo per se.
I like the statue and it was my aim to create something reasonable from it. Some think I succeeded some do not!
well done on this .
Nicely done. Nick.
