I've linked to the night photography group & hope they won't drum me out!
I've just realised that Pete closed this group. It was good knowing you all![]()
I had the sky without the foreground, I had the mill without the stars!
Stars trails including pole-star 25 stacked images taken over 30 min
Lighthouse taken on a cold dark day in Isle of Wight during winter. Turned into a 'night-time' and merged.
I'd like to try it for real but until I can I hope the purists will forgive me.![]()
Both were taken with wide angle lens but stars were on 7D & Windmill with 5D

I hope nobody objects - this works for me as a story, the rotation of stars and the windmill sails.
Moira
I've just realised that Pete closed the group anyway once the 'proper' groups started. Pity it was going well.
Penny
Thanks for the t's & cs, I still want to go back to that windmill on the right night.
Must try this for real up North in the wilds of Sutherland where light pollution is much less.
Dougie
Sky is real enough Dougie, taken in the inky blackness of rural France a couple of weeks ago. There was a windmill there too but not a suitable subject for a midnight treck and the sails have long since gone, so I had to sustitute. Would have been the same orientation.

Hi Penny it was only closed so everyone can use the proper groups with group facilities, forum, gallery, pm etc etc. All it needs is someone to start the group again in the new venue. We've basically closed down the scout hut and opened up the church hall ![]()
Thanks Dave, Pete & Doug.
Pete, I'm not sure whether you'll read this but if you do can you explain why the group had to be closed. It was working well and now has disbanded. Some of the new groups are good but they've been diluted by the trivia that belongs on the forum.
I'm not the only one who enjoyed membership and feel sorry about it ending.
Well said Penny....
When I was a landlord I ran my pub to suit my local community!
I built respect that way and a happy environment.
Tim
this is lovely Penny you can play in the 'proper' night time group on the other side
shot this the same night you uploaded was teaching and learning in the inky with fellow EPZ'ers
see you next weekend to do some 'proper' night shooting and we can upload to the 'proper' night time group then hey?
cant wait
Diana
Not the genuine article (you're too honest Penny!!) but a great picture all the same. John
Lovely image, deserves many more votes.
Well done...Ricky.

Because members meetings is for meetings and groups were thrown in to it as a way to start the ball rolling. Now we've built a proper area where you can pm each other, create discussions forums, not just one rolling thread, add pictures, as many as you like, add comments to the page exactly like the meetings section and much more.
I don't understand why it would not be seen as an improvement?
all those who were in the night group please spend 10 mins looking at this group Reality?. Have a look at pictures, the way it works, larger uploads, exif data, comments on pics, votes turned off so it can be about the images and comments rather than scores (your choice), the forum, the comment area. It's much better than what you had in the members meeting area. You just need to find your feet and the group could work really well.
