Pleased to see you got a smile, out of the thought of me dashing around the balcony of my apartment in my jimjams, taking images of 'Lunch 54 - The Silvery-cheeked Hornbill' Smile "Needs Must, when The Devil Drives" and all that.

Richard brought a smile to my wizened chops, with his Comment about our Hornbill being the "avian replacement for the AWACS radar plane". There are over 50 different species of Hornbill in the world, of which just 12 reside in Kenya and the different species eat all manner of things; our Silvery-cheeked example eats only fruit, Nezih.

Jeff's traditional 'one liner' "Boy, Have I got a headache!!" was a good 'un and I don't know why, but it reminded me of a recent visit, to a new restaurant in town, which had posh glass table tops and lots of waiters, bustling to show us through to an outside, covered area. It wasn't very busy, being lunchtime, but we passed a table with a couple seated and then a larger table with three generations of Indians, with a skinny man, wearing a turban, at the head. Seated comfortably and perusing the menu, I noticed a fly hop off the bread rolls onto the table. Without thinking, I raised my hand and deftly swatted it.... Thump - and watched all the silvery knives, forks, spoons, glasses and bread basket rise into the air and descend with tinkles, clatters and various other sounds.... The din settled and I looked up, to see a whole row of waiters, standing stiffly to attention. A glance to my left revealed the couple staring at me, him pushing his glasses back up his nose. Over my shoulder, the skinny Indian was sitting on the side of his chair, his turban covering one eye and his nose. And the food was awful...

Today's 'Lunch'
A Three-banded Plover was walking around the perimeter of the big dam, in Nairobi's National Game Park, last Saturday, pecking away between rocks and grasses, looking for tit-bits. A super-fast little fellow, it wasn't easy to get images of him, let alone observe what he was eating...!!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday..!

Simon
PS: Yesterday's mission to the Government offices had to be aborted. It's happening today...

Never tiring constant search for lunch, that's the impression I get from these shots, Simon. Brilliant light and shots.

They keep eating so long that lunch blends into dinner.

Good luck with your meeting, Simon.

Plovers the world over are a skittish, fast moving little bird and always difficult to get a good shot of, so well done on 2 good shots. I particularly like the first with the foot just raised. Excellent as always Simon.
