It is a Type 45 destroyer.

The United Kingdom's Type 45 destroyer (also known as the D or Daring class) is an air defence destroyer programme of the Royal Navy which will replace its Type 42 destroyers.

Thank you , there was so many types of ships in there, I didn't know where to look next, this does look a sleek and mean ship.

Second of the Daring class, HMS Dauntless, soon to be joined by her sister HMS Dragon in 2011. They cost a staggering 6.6 billion quid each. Three more are planned.
Hope you enjoyed your day in Portsmouth Paul.

Good shot of HMS Dauntless which I photographed often at the fitting out yard of BAE Systems on the R. Clyde. The sleek superstructure gives it a radar signal which is said to be no greater than a fishing boat.
Ronnie.
