I am trying my hand at some focus stacking. This was Modified by CombineZP but I don't find it very user friendly but it is free. These mushrooms were only about 2cm high and they were quite low to the ground so I had to lie on the woodland floor to get this close. I used a reflector to bring some light in from above.

This is really good. I love the colours and mushroom detail. Lighting is very good.
Theres seems to be an area of softness in the greenery in middle of sharp areas, so might be something im not seeing properly, or maybe just more time needed with the software, but an attractuve shot.

Willie
Ade is a master at photo stacking, Judith, so to have a thumbs up from him should boost your confidence.
I think you have done well, and I like the two little insects climbing up the mushroom stalk on the left.
Your angle is effective, the background is nicely blurred, and the diagonal slant of the row of fungi is very attractive.
I have done a modification where I cropped both sides, taking the bottom of the sloping bank of moss into the bottom right corner. Without a crop, I would suggest cloning out the little bits of moss entering the frame bottom right.
Pamela.

Thankyou everyone... I will get the hang of it. The moss was too soft for my liking at the front, next time I will start the focusing there then work back. I am learning all the time. Pamela - I like the crop you did - thankyou. Willie - the middle is soft but I will get better...lol.
