Contrary to most I quite like the crop but I would have been more adventurous by cropping the top third of the image from just above the highlight under Jo's armpit to the bottom of the picture; for me the personality of the couple is plainly evident in the clasp of the hands.

The image clearly does of course suffer technically and there is a danger that you get so caught up within creativity that you leave out some aspects of technique; however much much worse still is to get caught up in the bounds of technique that you omit creativity; the lighting and emotion makes the picture and you are getting my vote to encourage your creativity.
