Very many thanks for your support on yesterday's upload of the River Lyd at Lydford Gorge, I am so pleased that it went down so well, as I still consider that I have a lot to learn when it comes to landscapes and appreciate all your comments and thoughts.
Encouraged by that, I am uploading anothing image from the Gorge this evening, this time featuring one of the two impressive waterfalls that can be found within the gorge.
This is the Devils Cauldron, a dark and moody thunderous cavern, where the River funnels through narrow gaps in the rock as it falls through the valley, where it emerges here it is under great pressure and the noise is deafening.
With it being so dark, a long exposure (13 secs) was needed to capture the colour in the mosses and the red's in the rock, which resulted in the radiating pattern in the water.
I know it seems a little bland in the foreground, but I quite like it and I would be interested in your views.
Thanks again,
Phil

very nice rich tones behind the water a shot I may have missed had I been there - you did well to see its potential
Not at all bland the colours youve captured in this are great.
Rob

Your camera skills know no bounds Phil!
This is superb, a glorious blend of light and speed, the detail and colours are superbly captured and the rushing water is spot on perfectly balanced against the darkness, and acts as a spotlight for the whole composition.
Shorlisted as given UA already today.

A top shot Phil, the light rays make this one stand out from the crowd
