Well, the East of Swindon at least!!.

Captured this frosty scene this morning of the frozen Peatmoor Lake, Swindon with the Pagoda Island covered in frost.

I would be interested in thought's as to how this could be improved, I'm still trying new things when it comes to Landscapes.

Many thanks as always.

Phil

Looks pretty good to me Phil, everything seems to be in the right place and the exposure seems well balanced too. You should have a little more confidence in your landscapes if this is owt to go by!!!

Well . . . . in my humble opinion, nothing! I think it is a perfect, & well composed landscape. A picture post card image.

exposure, composition etc bang on.

i dont see much to improve in my opinion.

i think a crop may be nice and i will post one later tonight when i get a chance, but will it make it better, maybe not, just my personal preference.

A superbly composed winter scene Phil, i'd never have guessed this was Swindon! You should sell this one to the local tourist board

Thanks Ed, this is right next to the Oriental restaurant which is just out of shot to the right, and directly alongside the new driving test centre which will open in March.

Thank you for the mod Ian, I had thought of that crop, to lose a little of the foreground, your upload looks great.

Great looking winter shot and the little bit of red from the Pagoda looks great.

Was this shot taken this morning as it was very white when I past that way this morning?

I live in Grange Park, just around the corner.

Taken around 12 o'clock, I was just on the way back from Frshbrook towards North Swindon when I noticed the view as I passed in the car, pulled over into the restaurant car park, and set the camera on the metal railings around the sluice part of the lake.

This is excellent Phil - a wonderful snow scene - you should be well pleased.
I noticed the mod :- I feel your version looks far superior - impact is lost when the snow is cropped off of the bottom. Leave it alone imo.

Love the red which give this a zap of colour & the composition is great with the curve of the frozen lake coming in from the right leading you into the image.

Not much wrong with this Phil - beautiful light, exposure spot on with excellent tones and a very effective composition. I would certainly be pleased with it.

This is a beautiful image! Although I can`t see anything wrong with it, I do think the crop from Ian makes it a `little` more to a judges liking!

Jan.
