Another from Stanton Fitzwarren Country Park, showing the variety of birds visiting the feeding station.

thanks for comments on recent uploads, quality may be a little lower than normal as I am having problems with my photoshop programme at the moment, and can not finish my images as I would normally like.

Camera tripod mounted
170-500mm lens @500mm
iso200 (light not great but tried to keep iso down as D50 not great for noise reduction at higher iso range)

Shutter fired by remote control

Thanks for looking.

Nice work Phil.

What was the post processing here? Looks like a bit of a light center to the pic with light falling off as we get nearer the edges. Not just on the background, but also on the perch too, more so towards the right from center.

Hi all, many thanks for comments.

On this shot, as with a few others, I have added a small amount of vignetting to the image to draw more attention to the main subject, the bird, I would normally just lighten the effect up a little to make it not quite so eveident.
However as my photoshop programme has developed major gremlins (it wont load!!) I was unabe to do the final bit of lightning up that I normally would do.

Other than that the only processing done was to the levels and curves, tiny bit of saturation and a small amount of sharpening in the Capture One raw conversion package.

Hope that helps.

Phil

Hi Phil - I have read your comments re your problems. The b/g has a little banding when viewed large but not really an issue.
What I find hard to understand is that no one has mentioned the fact that the under belly of the Great Tit contains no plumage detail at all - the whole area looks to have been smoothed out completely. I have seen this effect happen in Noise Removal programs - did you not use one ?? This is such a contrast to the excellent detail you have captured in the rest of the bird.
Brian.

Hi Brian, thanks for comments.

No noise removal programme used at all in these recent shot's, I would normally put through neat image as a plug-in through photoshop, but no chance currently as photoshop will not load up at the moment.

Again Phil..love the Lichen covered perch.
Looks & sounds like you are having real problems with your processing.I get the banding in the bg & I think Brian is quite right with ref to the bird's chest.A real shame Phil as I don't think the last couple of up loads from you are up to your usual high standards..sorry.

Perhaps you should have a go at removing Photoshop & re-loading it onto the computer ?
