The Stonechat ( saxicola torquata )
Spent hours this bright and sunny but cold and windy morning scrambling through very scratchy gorse trying to get within a reasonable range to get shots of the Stonechat. My legs are torn to ribbons !! I never did get close enough ( do we ever ?) but I did manage to get within the distance to enable me to get these shots.
I was rather surprised when I looked at the shot closely to see that she had picked up a small lizard; not seen that before. If you look large you will see in V1 that the poor lizard has got a leg through the birds mouth as it struggles to get free. I can tell you it did not manage it. V2 is the same bird but showing the lizard more clearly.
Large view will be really worth your time.
My very appreciative thanks for the super response to the Lord of The Manor.

Absolutely perfect. A picture to die for - certainly worth a few scratches (he says from the comfort of his padded chair, perfectly safe, unscathed, in the warm, G&T, in front of the PC!!) Wonderful, thank you for sharing that, it's made my evening.
This is an absolute stunner Ron, like Brian i've never witnessed this before. Cracking capture in all respects and what a brilliant bonus with food, lizard is icing on the cake.
No pain no gain, I bet you said and this proves the dedication in getting this stunner
