In the words of Mr Titchmarsh a great place to be 'whatever the weather.'
Seems a long time ago now, roll on March.

Stunning image.
AP have just done an article on lighthouse photography and this is better than any featured in that article.
A very atmospheric image

I saw the thumbnail and thought that looks good. To see it large is to love it. No wonder it's got our attention. V. well done indeed!

The blue (early morning?) light is very striking and works so well.
The glow emaninating from the blurred surk really makes the shot for me.

Great to see this as photo of the week. I recognised it as soon as it came up. This takes me back (oh my God) 50 years to childhood holidays at Portsalon and trips out to the head itself. I was even able to go up the light in the days of easy visiting. It was a fantastic feeling with the ocean out to the north and West and Malin Head to the east.![]()

I'm blown away by the response to this one.
First: thank you Mr B for the EC and POTW, when photography has had to take a back seat of late it will spur me on.
Many thanks to Phil, Paul, Jeanie, Ian and Jouko for your UA's.
Thank you also to all that have shown their support for this image and others over my few years on the site.
For those who might be interested this was an image taken (I still have a hard time saying this "image was made") on my last evening in Donegal after staying on after the Donegal Meet. The wind was whipping up the waves and was a battle to hang onto the tripod and to keep wiping away the seaspray. This was the second to last image of the night, 20 sec exposure. The grad was still on from earlier which along with the WA creates the vignetting that you see. Next time if I have my wits about me I might remember to remove the filter!
Only just seen this one Melanie - not really been here for a while - but I love it - very moody, great choice of shutter speed and just works really well.
The more I see photos of this part of Ireland the more I think I must get there some time - thank you for showing this one.
Lizzie
